Sarah Elgart is a dancer and choreographer who has directed numerous site specific performances and dance films with her company, Arrogant Elbow. She has brought her unique interdisciplinary approach to communities in need, particularly female inmates, children in hospitals, and at risk youth.

MADRE (Mothers and Daughters Reaching Empowered States) was a project Elgart conducted in collaboration with homeless women to seek empowerment through performance.

Chicago Dancemakers is dedicated to supporting the city’s diverse dance community through programs which equip artists with the necessary tools to grow as professionals.

Lab Artists Program annually gives grants and mentorship opportunities to Chicago choreographers for time to engage in the creation and presentation of new work. Other programs include Greenhouse Program, Public Events, and Regional Dance Development Initiative.
