Kolkata Sanved harnesses the power of dance and dance movement therapy to heal, empower and transform individuals into active citizens and changemakers.
Known for providing dance and dance therapy as a form of psychosocial for survivors of human trafficking and violence in the city of Kolkata as well as across India, this groundbreaking organization has received international recognition for its innovative, human rights-based programs that offer rehabilitative and expressive outlets as well as leadership training and livelihood opportunities to women and girls who have experienced violence. Through dance, movement and dance therapy, their work catalyzes healing and social transformation, led by survivors.
Since its inception in 2004, Kolkata Sanved has worked in partnership with 30 organizations across South Asia including community organizations, civil society networks, rights groups and government institutions. They conduct sessions with diverse participants in shelter homes, hospitals, government institutions, schools and on railway platforms.
