Founder and Director, Fostering Dreams Project

Melanie Buttarazzi is a Toronto native who has been dancing since the age of four. She studied various forms of dance such as Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, Flamenco, Latin, Ballroom and Salsa. Melanie was on So You Think You Can Dance Canada as a salsa/ ballroom dancer, top 18 finalist.  

Living in Los Angeles, Melanie has worked with some of the industries top choreographers on stage and on set. She has performed at the Video Music Awards with artists such as Pitbull, and Neyo, appeared in music videos with Jennifer Lopez, Pharrell.

Melanie also performed at the 69th Cannes Film Festival at the Carlton Hotel Fashion show as a flamenco dancer.  She performed in the Christian Loubutin and Sabi Assachi collaboration launch and has been in numerous commercials, such as Budweiser, Sony, Phillips, Carnival Cruise Lines, Bud Light, and Budwiser, to name a few.

She has choreographed for TV and Film and her latest commercial was for Blue Shield of California that featured her non-profit organization, Fostering Dreams Project.

Melanie has been an adjudicator for international dance conventions and competitions for the past 5 years and has participated in motivational speaking for dancers across North America.

Melanie has toured the world performing and choreographing for award-winning musician Robert Michaels for over a decade.

With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, Melanie has taught dance to children and adults around Canada and the US and Europe. Several of her students have competed in Pro-Am Ballroom/ Latin competitions and she has also participated in many national competitions around the world.

In learning about the joy that dance spreads to others, Melanie was inspired to create a non-profit dance program in Los Angeles where she recruited a number of renowned choreographers to be a part of her team to give back. The program is called Fostering Dreams Project, to empower and educate foster youth and at risk youth to find their voice through the art of dance. Melanie and her team are currently working with school districts and various organizations to bring dance education and empower today’s youth.
